Postby Vadi » Mon Mar 08 2010, 13:46

Hi Guys

I just bought a honda civic 160i civic 167000 kms I paid 42 for the car the car is in Pristine condition.
I just had it serviced and I need some advise I had a toyota b4 this and she was quite nippy unlike the civic
So yesterday after service I tried to push her she gones nicely up until 140 after 140 is take very long to get to 160i
which really bothers me the mac says the engine is 100% but I feel bad cos maybe I have just lost a lot of money.
Are these car like this or not.

What can be done or should I sell this car or can I do somthing to make it faster
Please asisit

hey congrats on the buy!
i use to have a 97 160i (d16y9) so did my bro. his was a 1998 model. both in EXCELLENT condition!
stock for stock mine was a bit stronger than my bros. his D16 was a bit laze. that changed when he installed a 57mm exhaust & after driving the car hard a bit. the previous owners where to timid with the car which lead to some carbon build up.

ok so is your D16 manual or auto?

what Toyota did you have prior the the honda?

the D16s are excellent cars & are a bit under rated.

I have the manual one is the engine called a D16.
My toyota was a 1600 1999 model RXI shape
had a branch 57 and a free flow

So any ideas to make these cars fast
Tell why does it struggle to get to 160 and over
from 0 - 120 its no problem.

before we can start discussing mods i think you should take a drive in one of the forum members D16 to gage.
what gear did you use to get to 160... in 4th is gets there relatively quick!

Ok I had to drop him to 4 from 5 and it took like about 4 to 5 secs to get to 160.
Do you have a d16 that I can sit in I am from Randburg. And are they cars abit heavy on petrol
cos with like R300 petrol I get 350 kms to 360 kms

Hmmm.... that is a bit long, than again you are on the reef.
i'm from KZN bud, sorry can't help you with a ride. but pm Gan-san (he has a D16 but its the older model) his D16 runs pretty strong. & is a good comparison. my Ex D16 was pretty much on par with his.

- that is quite heavy & i suspect something wrong dude. when i was in GP i got at least 620km on a full tank.

That is ridiculous! with all my mods i can still get almost 600km off a tank, and a tank is about R380 now...
